Current Research Interests

I am interested in the following areas of research in alpine tundra, northern boreal and temperate forest ecosystems.

1. a)Climate change and biodiversity at multiple scales.
   

2. b)Classification and modelling of vegetation communities and wildlife habitats at different scales using predictive and multivariate statistics and remote sensing.
   

3. c)Plant-animal interactions - Effect of super abundant vertebrates on forest ecosystem structure and dynamics.
   

Currently my work includes two International Polar Year (IPY) projects. The St.Elias Project (StEP) is a collaborative multi-disciplinary effort that examines the interactions between physical and biological systems in alpine systems undergoing climate change. CiCAT (Climate Change Impacts on Canadian Tundra Project) examines changes to tundra vegetation. I am also looking at the effect of experimental warming on the spatial and compositional structure of alpine tundra plant communities.
